Environmentally Constrained Access
Construction access was limited to the proposed shared use path corridor itself. AMH Civil negotiated to change design from precast planks to form in situ construction to mitigate the additional footprint needed for crane pads, and mitigate impacts to native vegetation.
Management of Waterways
The form and pour in situ solution reduced clearing and footprint, but introduced other environmental hazards requiring careful implementation of sedimentation controls, bunded concrete areas, and temporary works to facilitate creek flows and fauna movements, including safe passage for the resident platypus.
Interface with Local Stakeholders
The project benefitted from strong community support. AMH Civil engaged with Friends of Campbells Creek and residents adjacent to the creek to proactively communicate access impacts and construction activities, and planned and resourced the works to ensure safe passage around mobile plant for bush walkers and interested pedestrians as works progressed.
